Walking Down Memory Lane • It was September 1969 • Political Science class at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck N.J. • I was researching my favorite subject, the scratch sheet from Yonkers Raceway • I met Eddie, who had a similar interest in the ponies • We decided right there and then, as Rick said to Louie at the end of Casa Blanca, “This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship” • He was the one who gave me my nickname name “Sach” • We spent the next 3 years playing sports, cutting class • Nights hanging out in the dorms • Drinking at the Deer Head and later at the Gaslight • The maniac raids • His 21st Birthday • One I will never forget… and one he’ll never remember • Graduation • Robert Hall • The Big L (and the cigarette runs) • The house in Englewood • The MetLife years • Hearts at lunchtime • Munks Park, Mitchells, The Abbey Tavern, The Glocca Morra” Rascals, Live Bait, The 23rd Street Grille…I’ll stop here • Meeting and dating Pat • Their wedding (where one of our college friends took an axe handle to a guy who cut him off on the way to the reception) • The Bergen Blues • Kristen and Tommy’s births • So much more…even I feel this may be TMI • I’ll let the Grateful Dead sum it up…”what a long, strange trip it’s been” • Happy Birthday Mr. Hood!!! Always your friend, Sach
